Reflexology Classes for Massage Therapists & Bodyworkers
Why Real Reflexology is Important in a Spa Setting
Reflexology is gaining incredible momentum in the U.S., making it important for spas to provide legitimate reflexology services. While a massage therapist cannot claim to be a certified reflexologist, they can learn proper techniques and methods to offer a solid add-on reflexology protocol.
Massage Therapists already have extensive training and an intuitive sense of working with the human body, so when adding reflexology to their practice, they learn the techniques quickly and can apply them confidently following the training workshops.
Reflexology can access areas of the body that a massage therapist cannot touch due to pain or contraindications. For instance, often times it is very painful to touch the under the armpit area of a client with a frozen shoulder. With reflexology, we can work the area from the endpoint without harm or discomfort.
Benefits of Reflexology
Reflexology is a non-invasive technique that helps support the body's natural healing process.
By applying pressure to specific points on the hands and feet, reflexology aids in the reduction of tension and stress, promotes relaxation, aids in the detoxification, and helps improve circulation.
Studies have shown its effectiveness in various conditions like migraines, digestive disorders, PMS, high blood pressure and blood sugar, and more.
The techniques stimulate the complex neural pathways linking body systems, supporting the body’s efforts to function optimally.
While massage addresses the exterior structures, reflexology addresses internal structures that cannot be addressed in a general massage session.
Reflexology Workshops
Chantel offers two workshop options: 1. A one-day (8-hour) course, which teaches massage therapists how to confidently integrate reflexology into their practice with a foot reflexology protocol; 2. A two-day (16-hour) course that focuses on hand and foot reflexology techniques and protocols.
Massage therapists will learn correct reflexology techniques, application, and proper body mechanics.
Specific points and protocols for anxiety, stress, digestive disorders, immune system boosting, and endocrine system balancing will be taught. For example, if a client comes in with a headache or menstrual cramps, the massage therapist will have a larger tool bag to pull from to address their client’s pain. In addition to the massage techniques, there are reflexology protocols to help headaches, digestive disorders, lower back pain, and reproductive issues.

"I took an intro to Reflexology module through my yoga studio, and I can't recommend Chantel enough. It is so refreshing when you encounter a healer who is truly working from their heart, and are dedicated to their work, and to share their teachings. Watching her do reflexology on my fellow students was like watching a musician play their instrument, completely in the moment, fluid, heartfelt. Her warm demeanor, and articulate and relatable way of explaining things make her an exceptional educator. I've taken many trainings, yoga and other healing modalities, and she is truly one of the best!" ~ Natasha S.
